Fire Suppression Mechanics: Hoses, Water Tanks & Drafting 🧯

Water is your primary weapon against fire. Our state-of-the-art SmartHose and Supply-Line systems simulate realistic water hydraulics, hose connections, tank depletion, and drafting from natural water sources.

🚒 Truck Water Tanks & Hose Operations

Your engine (such as the `bulldog` or `TCFiretruck`) carries an internal water tank:

  • Tank Capacity: Standard engines hold between 2,500 to 7,000 units of water.
    • •
  • Connecting the Hose: Approach your fire engine's attack ports (`attack1` or `attack2`), press 'Z' to grab the hose line, and walk toward the fire.
    • •
  • Controlling Pressure: Use Arrow Up / Arrow Down to adjust water pressure. Higher pressure extinguishes fires faster but consumes more water (5 to 25 units per second).
    • •
  • Extinguishing Fires: Direct the stream at the base of the flames for 15 to 40 seconds to completely extinguish the fire.

    • WARNING

    Water Depletion: On maximum pressure, a 2,500-unit water tank will run empty in about 1.5 minutes of continuous spraying. For large structure fires, you MUST establish a supply line!

    🚰 Supply-Line & Street Hydrants

    When your engine's internal tank runs low during an extended fire attack:

  • Connecting to a Hydrant: Locate a red Street Fire Hydrant near the incident.
    • •
  • Attaching Supply Line: Take the heavy supply line from your engine and connect it directly to the hydrant.
    • •
  • Continuous Water Feed: Once connected, the supply line will continuously refill your engine's tank at 100 units per second, giving you an unlimited water supply.

    🌊 Drafting Water in Rural Areas (lpp - Light Portable Pump)

    In rural areas like Sandy Shores or Paleto Forest where street hydrants are scarce:

  • Equip the Item: Retrieve the `lpp` (Portable Fire Pump) item from your inventory or the Firefighter Armory.
    • •
  • Placement: Carry the pump to the shoreline of any nearby lake, river, or ocean (e.g., Alamo Sea) and deploy it (`/lpp place` or use item).
    • •
  • Drafting Water: Connect a supply line from the Portable Pump to your fire engine. The pump will draft natural water directly into your engine's tank!
